FIRST VISIT TO MEADOW PARK;

Boreham Wood 0-0 Maidstone United
Saturday 10th December 2016
FA Trophy

After Gillingham's game with Bolton Wanderers away got moved to the following Monday night due to Sky moving the game (luckily I am still going to Bolton) it gave me a free Saturday. I was undecided what game to go to, it was a choice out of 2 games, either Dartford vs Dover in the FA Trophy also or of course Boreham Wood vs Maidstone. I was planning to go to Dartford but I got a text of my mate on the Friday night saying he couldn't make Dartford and plus I didn't fancy Dartford too much anyway as I've been there quite a few times. So I thought if anything goes tits up with Dartford I thought I'd have a back-up plan and possibly go to Boreham Wood and it did so, it was a quick easy decision to go. I had been to Boreham Wood the place before as months ago I took my other half as Boreham Wood is the place where EastEnders is filmed at not a million miles away at BBC Elstree Studios. So anyway, I left home at half 11 and got into London Victoria about 12.45. Got onto the tube and headed for Kentish Town and then a straight train to Elstree & Boreham Wood. I got into Boreham Wood about 1.35 and took a slow walk and got to the ground about 2. Not a bad little ground I thought. I was thinking of standing on the terrace, but the weather wasn't too great so opted to sit on the side. It wasn't a great game either, Boreham Wood and Maidstone had their chances but no one really looked like scoring and in the end 0-0 was a fair scoreline. Both very poor teams. Anyway, I got home around 7 which wasn't too bad. Not been a bad day, another Conference ground ticked off, only my 8th Vanarama Conference side ticked off, so couldn't complain. Roll on Bolton away for me on Monday night, the last League One side ticked off, I must be mad!

Elstree & Borehamwood station, the nearest station to the ground, around a 20 minute walk.

Also a well known fact, in the picture above, the tall building is the same building you can see on EastEnders.
